I got the good call today

The State Fair called this Saturday Afternoon to share my art has sold and there is no need to pick it up at the end! Very nice on both accounts. I got some painting time in this week which is like getting oranges in the winter in the 1850's! Felt so great and I am working on color studies with my ink and oil style which is fun!

On another happy note, Jan and I were at Eagan's Market Fest on Wednesday and we got a lot of feedback! I also had a group of women look at the product and got even more feedback. She's taken the data and now we are shifting gears to focus for the next survey experience.

My sister Katie is working on an entrepreneurial venture as well and things are ramping up for her. I worked at bit Friday and this weekend on some graphics for her. I am proud of her and can see a bright future within this venture as things are taking off quickly for her already!

Best watercolor in the travel field journal goes to....

I visited the State Fair preview night tonight. My mom celebrated with me and the throngs of people who came to see their shining art. There was even a guy that we kept seeing (he had a distinctive look) and when he met up with his art he was in love with it and when we turned to see it, there he was in the painting! Wow, in love with his art and himself. It was like performance art for the small group that unexpectedly walked the show together. My mom and I had a snicker, the others faked interest, bowed heads low and moved on. Very Minnesotan! Beautiful art some of it. Somehow my piece seems adolescent but I think it is just the beginning of a style and I honor myself for speaking in my true artistic voice.

Here is are some watercolor paintings from our recent trip to Santa Fe and Steamboat.

Birdhouses, art and charity

I just finished decorating two birdhouses for a Dakota Woodlands (a local homeless shelter who does great work!) Fundraiser held in October. One is a windmill and the other is representing Lynne Rosetto Casper from the Splendid Table. I made a glazed ham birdhouse, tied it with string and decorated it with shrinky dink pineapples. The back of the ham house has an area for Lynne to write something, that is what is going on back there! Here are some photos-
